It allows me to discover and enjoy old music, like the CTI ones you mention here, that I would never have known about. I enjoy also the happenstance of the renewed interest in vinyl, and the internet. I like the functional design, the sound quality care of vintage equipment engineers, and the sheer impossibility of getting beautiful music from a mineral boulder on the end of a steel girder, being dragged through a rough walled black valley at scale supersonic speeds. I can not play music, the how-to-do of it all is beyond me. You come to this hobby on a different path to me. I have yet to play, but with your high recommendation, look foward to a night of me and George.

This was when I discovered the earlier stuff you mention. Loved it in my youth, so thought I would try to get some of the popular records fro back then. I only know of the later George Benson from my youth, and this was his mass market release stuff. He will do very well with his vintage gear, have a lot of fun without spending big, and will enjoy personal achievements in improving the sound. Although George now lives in Hawaii he and my brother still correspond. My brother used to ride the train to Long Island once a month to get lessons in technique. We went to all of his shows for that engagement. The next night I took one of my bass's and the three of us had some fun. Next thing you know George has his Gibson going and they're trading riff's and talking. This time my brother pulled out his Les Paul and asked George about some of the lines he had played that night. My brother took his Les Paul with him and after the show we once again went backstage to George's dressing room. he was the guitar player and I was the bass player. We introduced ourselves to him and he invited us into his dressing room to talk music.ДЄt the time my brother and I were in the same band. My brother and I went to the opening night show and wangled our way backstage after the show. Many years ago when Breezin was at the top of the charts he was playing here in Phila, at the Bijou CafГ©. Great playing by a bunch of true masters. I have this on the original LP, the re-issue LP, the re-issue CD and the 20-Bit re-mastered CD. he's still 'smokin' when the song fades out. There are two that IMO every Jazz Fan should have.

Just about any of those CTI's is worth at least a listen It doesn't make a lot of difference who's name the album was issued under. He was part of the 'house' band along with Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Turrentine, Ron Carter and many others who are big names. However, if you want to hear him really play, almost anything from the old CTI label is good. They and the public (obviously) like his Donny Hathaway style singing. The record company noticed that he always hummed and sang his lines as he played them. Hey Spinnr! Just about anything prior to Breezin' is good Benson.
